Altamont's ruger Grips

Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc is the largest domestic firearms manufacturer. They produce quality and affordable single-action and double-action revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, and rifles.

ALTAMONT® offers grips for a variety of Ruger revolvers and pistols. Most are available in our Super Rosewood, Super Walnut, Silver Black, White Pearl, and Bonded Ivory. Grips can be ordered smooth, checkered, or with advanced texture options.

In some lines, we offer an Oversize Fingergroove grip which provides the shooter a firmer feel and better control. The revolver does not roll up in the hand with the recoil while this larger grips surface absorbs more of the recoil. These features are important in big bore hunting and target shooting.

Single Action Frame Identification

Identifying the difference between BLACKHAWK/VAQUERO, NEW VAQUERO, and SUPER BLACKHAWK grip frames can be tricky. Your best bet is to consult the graphic below or send a photo of your frame with the grips removed to [email protected] for identification.

Please note that we have also provided the following lists to assist you. While these will help you identify your frame the majority of the time, there are some exceptions to the rules, so using the graphic above will be more accurate.

BLACKHAWK/VAQUERO grips fit Ruger models with an XR3-RED grip frame. Including Blackhawk, Vaquero (NOT New Vaquero), Wrangler, Single Six, Super Single Six, Old Army, 4 5/8" barrel Super Blackhawk, 5 1/2" barrel Super Blackhawk, Single-Ten, or Hawkeye (some modification needed to fit wider trigger slot).

NEW VAQUERO grips fit Ruger models with a NEW XR3 grip frame. Including the New Vaquero, 50th Anniversary .357 Blackhawk "Flattop" (2005), or 50th Anniversary .44 "Flattop" (2006).

SUPER BLACKHAWK grips fit Ruger models with a Super Blackhawk grip frame. Including the Super Blackhawk long barrel (7.5" or 10.5") with square trigger guard or Super Blackhawk Hunter. Note that Super Blackhawks with a ROUND trigger guard (with the exception of the Super Blackhawk Hunter) fit the NEW XR3 frame grips which we call New Vaquero on the website.

VAQUERO BIRDSHEAD grips will fit any Ruger Birdshead grip frames. Including the Vaquero Birdshead and New Vaquero Birdshead.

BISLEY grips will fit any Ruger Bisley frames with the distinctive 1/2 moon cut out at the top of the grips. Including Bisley, Bisley Vaquero, Super Blackhawk Bisley, and Super Blackhawk Hunter Bisley.

We do not currently offer grips for the older (non XR3-RED) 3-screw Blackhawk, Security-Six, Speed-Six, Service-Six, or Bearcat frames. If you would like to be informed should any of these be added to the ALTAMONT® line in the future, please shoot us an email and let us know.

Rimfire Frame Identification

Mark II, Mark III, Mark III 22/45, Mark IV, and Mark IV 22/45 grips are not interchangeable.

MARK II grips will only fit the Mark II frame.

MARK III grips will only fit the Mark III frame. They will NOT fit the Mark III 22/45 frame.

MARK III 22/45 grips will only fit the Mark III 22/45. They will NOT fit the standard Mark III or Mark IV 22/45 models.

MARK IV grips will fit the Mark IV Standard, Mark IV Target, Mark IV Hunter, Mark IV Competition, and Mark IV Tactical. They will NOT fit the 22/45, 22/45 Lite, or 22/45 Tactical models.

We do not currently offer grips for the Ruger Mark I or Mark IV 22/45 frames. If you would like to be informed should any of these be added to the ALTAMONT® line in the future, please shoot us an email and let us know.

Double Action Frame Identification

SP-101 grips will fit the SP-101 Standard or SP-101 Match Champion models. Due to frame variations, some fitting may be required by a qualified gunsmith.

GP-100 grips will fit the GP-100 Standard, GP-100 Match Champion, GP-100 Compact, Super Redhawk Alaskan, and Super Redhawk Standard models. Due to frame variations, some fitting may be required by a qualified gunsmith.

REDHAWK (ROUND BUTT) grips will fit any Redhawk with a round butt frame.

REDHAWK (SQUARE BUTT) grips will fit any Redhawk with a square butt frame.
